200th recipe post

What’s Up, Hungry People

As the year draws to a close, everyone is reflecting on the time they’ve spent and how it has been utilized. For me, it’s almost unbelievable that an entire year has passed since the inception of this blog! Over this time, I’ve evolved as both a chef and a photographer, and the anticipation of what 2016 holds for culinary adventures is truly exhilarating.

What’s even more thrilling is that this marks my 200th post, an accomplishment that I find astonishing within the span of just a year. In this post, I’ll delve into the recent months of cooking since my 100th recipe entry. It’s truly remarkable to witness the growth I’ve experienced as a blogger and photographer in these 365 days.

Last year, I impulsively resolved to revamp my blog, and it’s unequivocally the finest decision I’ve ever made. Now, without further ado, here are the recipes, presented in no specific order.

date brie mushrooms

Brie & Date Stuffed Mushrooms

The inspiration for this recipe arose from the “stuffed” theme in the 52 Weeks of Cooking Challenge. While I’ve always enjoyed stuffing mushrooms, these turned out to be remarkably simple yet incredibly delectable. I find myself craving them at least once every week. Interestingly, this recipe is my second one to be featured in the fantastic Mimi Vanderhaven magazine.

bread bowl recipe

Breakfast Bread Bowls

Occasionally, a recipe captures my attention in such a way that I can’t stop contemplating it. These breakfast bread bowls, available in both individual bites and complete meals, fall into that category. My family enjoyed them tremendously, and they’ve become a frequently requested treat whenever I’m back home.

turkey burger recipe

Thai Turkey Burger

This recipe holds a special place in my heart, not solely due to its delectable taste but also because it was my inaugural printed recipe! Additionally, it includes a bonus recipe for quick pickled cucumber toppings, making these burgers an absolute winner.

harry potter breakfast

Harry Potter Week: Weasley Breakfast

As an ardent Potterhead, few things hold as much significance to me as the Harry Potter series. It’s only natural for the magical world to make its way into my cooking endeavors (and not just once, but around half a dozen times). Preparing these dishes might just result in sprouting red hair and freckles, effectively bidding farewell to Muggle status.

pizza stone naan

Pizza Stone Naan

The most remarkable recipes are often the ones that turn out to be considerably simpler than initially anticipated. After years of attempting to master DIY naan, I stumbled upon the missing ingredient – a pizza stone. Now, crafting flawless naan is a breeze.

best mango salsa

Mango Salsa

This salsa stands as one of the initial recipes that sparked my enthusiasm for crafting delightful dishes. Given my fondness for mangoes, I’d willingly incorporate them into everything if I could. Naturally, salsa is no exception, and this “fruit salsa” certainly packs a flavorful punch.

flooded cookies

Flooding Technique

This year, I ventured into experimenting with cookies, honing my skills with simple flooding techniques. While I’m far from matching the expertise of a professional baker, I’m confident that I’ve pinpointed areas for improvement on my path toward achieving the perfect flooded cookie. Now, I simply need to focus on refining my designs.

fondue night

Fondue Bourguignonne

Unearthing a forgotten fondue set tucked away in the depths of our home was a delightful surprise. I’m genuinely thrilled to have stumbled upon it! I eagerly anticipate exploring more uncomplicated fondue recipes this year, spanning from cheese to chocolate fondues.

avatar recipes

Avatar the Last Airbender Recipes: Tentacle Soup

If there’s another series I hold in as high regard as Harry Potter, it’s undoubtedly Avatar. In fact, Avatar merited not one, but two weeks of dedicated celebration, overshadowing even Harry Potter’s lone week in July. Though, if we account for The Legend of Korra as a separate series (which most individuals don’t), then every series receives equal admiration. This year, my plan is to elevate the fictional feasts, expanding my Game of Thrones recipe collection and beyond.

two ingredient ice cream

Two Ingredient Ice Cream

During the summer, I stumbled upon the astonishing simplicity of crafting ice cream, a revelation that has led to a constant supply of this delectable treat. Experimenting with flavors like maple bacon and strawberry avocado was a joyous endeavor.

swensons galley boy

Swensons Galley Boy Copycat

Having lived in Akron for several years, I’ve come to realize that few eateries rival the delectable Galley Boy from Swensons Drive-In. With the original establishment conveniently located at the end of our driveway, I delved into extensive research before taking on the challenge of replicating the recipe. I’m content to say that I’ve come quite close to capturing its essence! Whether you hail from northeast Ohio or simply seek a distinctive burger experience, the Galley Boy is your ultimate choice.
