Here’s What You Need:

  • Tomato juice: Forms the flavorful base of the soup, providing richness and tanginess.
  • Diced tomato: Adds texture and bursts of fresh tomato flavor.
  • Butter: Enhances richness and depth, contributing to the overall velvety consistency.
  • Onion: Provides a savory and aromatic foundation for the soup’s flavor profile.
  • Garlic: Infuses the soup with a delightful pungent and aromatic essence.
  • Paprika: Offers a subtle smokiness and depth of flavor.
  • Red pepper flakes: Introduces a hint of heat and complexity.
  • Parsley: Contributes freshness and a gentle herbal note.
  • Oregano: Infuses the soup with earthy and slightly floral undertones.
  • Sugar: Balances acidity and enhances the natural sweetness of tomatoes.
  • Chicken base: Deepens umami and savory notes in the soup’s broth.
  • Heavy cream: Adds luxurious creaminess and rounds out flavors.
  • Mozzarella cheese: Optional topping for added richness and gooey indulgence.

Additional Tips and Troubleshooting:

  • Sautéing Sweetens Onions: Sautéing onions helps caramelize their natural sugars for a sweeter base flavor.
  • Texture Variation: For a smoother soup, use an immersion blender after cooking. Leave chunky for hearty bites!
  • Seasoning Savvy: Taste and adjust seasoning as you go – a pinch of salt can elevate flavors.
  • Creamy Consistency: Whisk cream gently while adding to prevent curdling and ensure a silky texture.
  • Cheese Cravings: Experiment with different cheeses for topping – cheddar, Gouda, or Parmesan bring unique flavors.
  • Leftover Love: Refrigerate leftovers; reheating gently preserves flavors and prevents overcooking.
  • Freezing Fare: Tomato soup freezes well for future quick and cozy meals – use airtight containers.
  • Bread Bowl Brilliance: Serve the soup in hollowed-out bread bowls for an edible and cozy twist.
  • Spice Spectrum: Adjust red pepper flakes based on heat preference; a little goes a long way.
  • Toppings Galore: Customize with toppings like croutons, fresh herbs, or a drizzle of olive oil. Enjoy your creativity!
