Today, we’re busting out our air fryer to make quick and easy brussels sprouts. It’s a simple and heathly dish that can be eaten as a snack or served as a side dish.

Brussels sprouts are pretty easy to overcook – and that’s why I think so many people have aversions to them or think they are “smelly.” If you overcook the Brussel sprouts, they will start to release an organic compound that contains sulfur and get mushy. But fortunately for you, cooking Brussels sprouts in an air fryer is a foolproof way to achieve the perfect, buttery Brussel sprout.

I added Canadian bacon to my air fryer, but you can use ham cubes or chopped thick cut bacon. Just keep in mind that if you do use raw bacon that it will create lots of grease. Brussels sprouts are best roasted, which results in a crispy-crunchy outer layer and a tender, buttery inside. When paired with salty bacon, there’s certainly no better snack around!

Ingredients

  • 16 oz brussels sprouts leaves trimmed and cut in half
  • 2 tablespoons Himalayan salt
  • 1 tablespoons fresh cracked pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Hungarian paprika
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 5 slices Canadian bacon chopped
  • balsamic vinegar for drizzling
  • mozzrella cheese shredded for topping, optional

Instructions

  • Wash and dry the Brussels sprouts. Remove any loose or small leaves from the exteriors of the Brussel sprouts. Cut the sprouts through the center stem, keeping the outer leaves intact. Toss the halved sprouts into a large bowl.
  • Add the olive oil, Himalaya sea salt, Hungarian paprika, garlic powder and fresh cracked pepper to the bowl with the Brussels sprouts. Add the Canadian bacon and use tongs to gently toss the Brussel sprouts until everything is covered in an even layer of the spices.
  • Lightly spray the bottom of the air fryer backet. Add the Brussel sprouts to the air fryer. Set the air fryer to 400 F | 205 C and bake for 15-20 minutes, until the outer layers of the Brussels sprouts are crispy and the centers are soft. They should be fork tender. Serve with a drizzle of baslamic or with shredded mozzarella cheese on top. Enjoy!
